I purchased this chair today - I am always a softie for ladder backs...
The cover obviously needs help - it's ripped and, well, the fabric could be better. So I bought these pieces at the local upholstery shop this afternoon - one is a solid microsuede - the other a gingham check. I put the fabrics on top (Sanctuary) which I plan to use for a quilt for the room this chair will go in.
What do you think?

It depends on the 'look' you're after - if you want a more elegant look then use the suede, if you want a more country look, then the gingham. My preference - the gingham.
