April!

Well, this is the last one I'm doing before quilt group - I'm so excited to see everyone's blocks...April showers - well, not really. It's been warm and nice here. I've been busy working trying to learn to use my Megaquilter and frame so I'm not making as many blocks. But, my mom did come up with a really cute bag handle, so I might have to bag it again!

March!

In like a Lion...well, here is March. I'm starting to hum "Calendar Girl" by Neil Sedaka - maybe I should add that to the music selections?

Instead I added several Abba songs, after seeing Mamma Mia - which if you haven't seen yet, I would definitely recommend - very fun and a genuine feel good movie...maybe a bit adult, but that's okay.

Making the BOM quilt in Poetry, but using some Charm packs, etc. to get more of a scrappy feel. DH said, "Looks kinda French country shabby"...sounds good to me!

February?

My quilting friends (QF, including my mom) and I are doing the mystery quilt on the Block Central site. I did one and not wanting to move to quickly laid back on the rest...we all committed to doing block 1 (which I had done for the last meeting for demo) by August 4...all sorts of comments about me being done before everyone else, yada yada yada...well, it turns out everyone else is speeding past me as I finish block 2...so here it is - maybe I'll get block 3 done by quilt meeting. I am anxious, though, to see everyone elses, since this will be the first chance to see color choices.

More Sisters

More pics from Sisters...took several pictures of creative ways to set 12, 12" sampler blocks.

Sisters

Took a quick drive over to Sisters on Saturday for the big quilt show. It was a little bit warm (as always, it seems), but the quilts were lovely. I hadn't gone in 4 years and was glad to see that the decsion had been made to close off the main street from traffic. My daughter, Lizzie, and I met my mother and some of her friends there. There are too many pictures to post them all, but here are some favorites.

So, funny story. Lizzie and I got there early and I knew that Bonnie Hunter (Quiltville) was going to be there vacationing with friends. We were walking along and saw a woman having her picture taken with someone and her friend commented, "see you are a celebrity". I thought, wouldn't that be funny if it were her? She was a very normal looking person (of course, aren't most of us) so I really couldn't tell and wasn't going to ask. I also, for some odd reason, expected her to have a Southern accent. So, when I saw her a second time clear across town I just had to ask - and sure enough, it was her. My daughter refused to be in the picture but Bonnie's friend (I believe it was Lucy) was kind enough to snap a picture, that after seeing it on the computer (Bonnie looks great) I should've warn makeup that day! I think I'll not post it. I hope I remembered to tell Bonnie how greatful I am that she is so willing to share her patterns with all of us...I did remember to tell her one of her "Carolina Crossroads" mystery quilts was hanging on the other side of town.

Lazy Girls

Lizzie and I made Lazy Girl Runaround bags and matching Wonder Wallets for our trip to Sisters. Lizzie bought the terrific aqua and green fabric on the shop hop last weekend - I've had the Asian for a while, but really like it. The ric-rac really adds to hers!
