Schnibbles for September

Ordered this pattern today, as soon as Sherri over at A Quilting Life posted this is the pattern of the month. Hoping to get it by the weekend, but we'll see. I'm goign to use scraps, and not so sure yet which ones...guess I have a few days to decide. And did I mention it's only 34 inches square when completed?

Next project

In between UFOs, I am also trying new things. I purchased a pattern for an interchangeable bag - haven't even tried it yet, but thought the concept was so fun that I had to post a picture!

Tomorrow is the release of the pattern chosen for the first month of the "year of Schnibbles" - I have to admit that (on an incredibly silly level) I'm excited about it.

UFO #4

I'm convinced this is the year I will lose my "topper" title...(Shawn once informed me that people who just liked to complete tops but never complete the quilts are called toppers). I am on track to complete one unfinished project per week.

This week is a quilt I made several years ago in a class with Shawn. I love this fabric. However, somehow (although I laid it out several times) all the purple gravitated together...argh. But, I backed it with flannel and quilted in the ditch. Caroline loves it, which is all that matters.

Schnibbles

I stopped at the local quilt shop today (Cotton Patch) and bought the 4 schnibbles patterns they have. I know from the pics none of these will be chosen for September. I see the in progress pictures are of flying geese, which none of these take. But, I liked all of these and will make them anyway.

Schnibbles

Okay, wanna challenge? These two sites are hosting a year of Schnibbles (you know the cute little quilt patterns). I joined, and think it's a fun idea. I'm thinking of trying to do them "seasonally".... if you want to join, here are the links. You have to have a blog site to register, then each month they are picking a Schnibbles pattern (you need to get a copy, either from a local quilt shop or order online - here is the link to what the patterns are, if you haven't seen them: http://www.missrosiesquiltco.com/Schnibbles.html) and each person registered will complete the pattern.
Wanna do it? Huh? Come on - you have to register by September 1. If you want to play along, but don't have a blog (Mom, Shannon, Debbie) you can do it with me and I'll post your picture here. You don't have to do EVERY month.

Finished Lizzie's baby quilt

I know what you're thinking...isn't Lizzie 12? Yes, she is.

This was the first quilt I ever tried - I was working on it when we lived in Eastern Oregon. It's made of the left-over fabric from her crib/bumper pads that my mom made before she was born (the selvage has a year on it - 1996). I hand-quilted half of it, then set it aside. Each time I picked it up, I concluded I didn't want to finish hand quilting it so I'd put it back away. The other night I decided I needed to either finish it or throw it away. So, I took out the hand stitches and quilted in the ditch with the machine. The squares don't line up perfectly, but I remember it taking me hours to do. If I remember right, I cut the squares by hand using cardboard as a template!

Anyway, it's a doll quilt now...and technically the 3rd project finished!

Week 2 - 2 finished

So, my "new year's resolution" from my birthday is to try to finish one pending project per week. I started with two fairly quick ones: two table runners started, but not finished.

The first is the stars runner my mom and I started, oh about 7 years ago. E-gads. It will be good in the Fall. Unfortunately the picture turned out dark - it's not really that dark.

The other is from the Moda Bake Shop. I tried the pattern with leftover Mary Englebreit fabric. The back has a tuck from quilting and....(don't expect me to say I'm going to fix it)...I expect anyone who comes over to not lift it to check.
